into-each-generation:

This week’s plot of the week is: Cleanse

Good and bad, right and wrong, dark and light… the very essence of someone’s morality. The Scoobies have learned time and time again that a soul— a person’s moral compass, their conscience— is not something to be toyed with.

The posters you’ve seen practice what they preach. Father Walker is in town, and he’s waiting at his parish for you to make your move. Like a cloth to a slate, he cleanses one’s soul, and at his hands does the Lord’s forgiveness wipe away the sins of humankind. Ask anyone who’s undergone the procedure and they’ll tell you how much better they feel now. Weightless. Sheer euphoria replacing guilt and vice, that which has weighed them down for so long.

Their souls have been cleansed, their worries lifted, their states blissful. Yet they’re no longer the person they once were. Participants seem to lose some part of themselves in their elation, their mindless joy, changing everything—who and what they had ever been.

But isn’t it worth it? Our souls have been shown to exist, a tangible reality, that which makes us whole, keeps us human. The vampires have said as much. Shouldn’t we protect them, cleanse them, make sure that they are pure for whatever lies beyond the grave? Or even as protection against the everyday temptations we face?

We’ve all done things we regret. And this week we wonder: How steep is the price of forgiveness?

[pm] I’m sorry, I made a promise about something that I can’t say. I don’t know exactly what happened during the spell that got her so upset though. She thinks she’s bad and it only pisses her off when people say she’s good… I’m going over to her place in a few days with cards and ice-cream.

[pm] Well I’m leaving her alone. I understand loyalty, but as a person who is supposed to be a part of some inner circle I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I can’t live this way anymore. I need to be able to trust that what I’m being told is true, I can’t with you guys anymore.

zeppo-with-one-eye replied to your post: [pm] I’m sorry for keeping Anya’s vengeance demon status a secret from you. I should’ve told you, but I promised not to and I didn’t want anything to happen to her. We’re still trying to figure things out with D’hoffryn. Since he brought her back, he has a hold over her and we don’t know how to break it and she needs to stay on his good side or else badness happens.

[pm] Yeah, sorry… No one’s going to hear about the hell portal from me. I know you wouldn’t have done it if you were sober and honestly not a huge loss. I’m doing some research about D’hoffryn right now. Not going so well, but I won’t stop.

[pm] Do you need help? I mean, I’m probably about as good with the books as you are. But hey, two heads are better than one right?
