Spike: But your witch did that spell for a reason.
Buffy: I can’t let them. I just can’t.
Buffy: If anyone’s going to become the government’s pawn, it’s me.
Buffy: I’m the only one that even stands a chance or surviving that.

Buffy: All I’m gonna do is register. Just me, the others are going to act like they lost their powers.
Buffy: It’s not so bad, and maybe if we start acting like I’m the only one now they won’t even do the registration.
Buffy: Nobody’s ever afraid when it’s just one girl.
Spike: Right, yeah.
Spike: And you’ll go back to fightin’ the forces all on your lonesome.

Buffy: It’s shameful to want to do the right thing? To protect the people that had the weight of the world thrust upon their shoulders because of me? You’re against it and I haven’t even told you my plan.

Spike: I’m against it because you’ve been a martyr for way too long.
Spike: And I’m against it because you’ve got loads of other girls who ought to share the load.
Spike: You’re a hero, Buffy. But you don’t have to be the only one anymore.

Buffy: Maybe not so much for me, but the world isn’t going to end or anything.
Spike: Yeah, that’s not convincin’ me at all.
Buffy: What’s there to convince? This is how it is, I do what I have to do.
Buffy: I may not end up okay, but the world will. And I’m okay with that.
Spike: Well, that’s a damn shame, ’cause I’m not.
Buffy: It’s shameful to want to do the right thing? To protect the people that had the weight of the world thrust upon their shoulders because of me? You’re against it and I haven’t even told you my plan.

Willow: Besides, they aren’t officially forcing people to register yet, are there?
Buffy: Well if they think it’s just me, if we act like I really am the only one, maybe nobody will have to register.
Buffy: I want to be the bait though. We just have to give them me and the rest can be safe.
Buffy: If something bad happens to me they’ll still be there and free to carry on with the world saving.
Willow: What do we tell them about Faith?
Buffy: We don’t tell them about Faith.
Willow: If someone else tells them about Faith, would you be mad if we packed up and ran?
Willow: My idea, not hers, in case you were wondering. We’re not really there yet.
Buffy: Of course you guys could leave. I mean I could always use your help with slayer stuff here with me, but there are so many other places where good can be done and it’s always been your choice to stay with me. Even back when you decided to go to UC Sunnydale. You wanted to do good, and that can be done from many a place.

Willow: What? Buffy! But you’ll be government bait! I know you don’t want to run, but turning yourself in could be dangerous.
