Spike: You all right?
Buffy: Kind of. I’ve got this plan to deal with this. It’s going to end up alright.
Buffy: Maybe not so much for me, but the world isn’t going to end or anything.
Spike: Yeah, that’s not convincin’ me at all.
Buffy: What’s there to convince? This is how it is, I do what I have to do.
Buffy: I may not end up okay, but the world will. And I’m okay with that.

Willow: Besides, they aren’t officially forcing people to register yet, are there?
Buffy: Well if they think it’s just me, if we act like I really am the only one, maybe nobody will have to register.
Buffy: I want to be the bait though. We just have to give them me and the rest can be safe.
Buffy: If something bad happens to me they’ll still be there and free to carry on with the world saving.
Willow: What do we tell them about Faith?
Buffy: We don’t tell them about Faith.
Willow: If someone else tells them about Faith, would you be mad if we packed up and ran?
Willow: My idea, not hers, in case you were wondering. We’re not really there yet.
Buffy: Of course you guys could leave. I mean I could always use your help with slayer stuff here with me, but there are so many other places where good can be done and it’s always been your choice to stay with me. Even back when you decided to go to UC Sunnydale. You wanted to do good, and that can be done from many a place.
ghost-of-fashion-victims-past:
[pm] Very good, Ms. Summers. Once you’ve seen to Rupert’s girls, please contact me. I’ll write the Council about our decided course of action. They’ll need to be reigned in on this as well.
This is merely preemptive of course. My understanding is that there is still room for this idiotic bill to die in legislation. Conceding prematurely is, perhaps, a little unnecessary. There is still time to sway public opinion though I must admit I’m unsure how to do that without endangering my girls…
[pm] Maybe we should have some sort of meeting with the whole crew. Get everybody on the same page all in one go. And if we just let them think they’ve won they won’t even make the bill. If they think it’s just me maybe nobody would have to register. It seems like a heck of a lot of time and money to waste on one girl.
[pm] A discreet group meeting sounds ideal. We can inform everyone at once and get our heads together.
I hesitate to make you our sacrificial lamb before it is necessary, Ms. Summers, but you make a strong point. You have my full support.
[pm] You and the Council aren’t making me anything. This is my choice, I’m not a lamb I’m the slayer.

Buffy: Before you hear it from someone else, I’m registering.
Buffy: None of the others are going to have to. They just have to act like they lost their powers and leave town.
Buffy: I’m gonna make it all okay.
Willow: What? Buffy! But you’ll be government bait! I know you don’t want to run, but turning yourself in could be dangerous.

ghost-of-fashion-victims-past replied to your post: [pm] If the government wants to chew me up and spit me out at least the others will be a safety net for when something actually goes wrong. They can even leave in the meantime, go somewhere safe. Faith is already undercover so she’ll be safe. I was /the/ slayer before we gave the others their powers. I can take this on like I always did, there’s no use in the others suffering. We didn’t give them their powers so they could end up being persecuted. I’m certain.[pm] Of course we have to tell them, they’ve got to act like they don’t have the powers anymore. It has to be the biggest secret they ever kept. Plus we don’t want them to go run and register because they don’t know that they don’t have to.[pm] Very good, Ms. Summers. Once you’ve seen to Rupert’s girls, please contact me. zeppo-with-one-eye replied to your post: [pm] Hey Buff. I saw the newspaper. How are you doing?
[pm] You’re a person too. You shouldn’t have to be forced to register… Though I guess everyone already knows about you being a Slayer. Do you really think people are going to give up on it if we say the others don’t have powers?
[pm] It’s too late for me. If this is the price I have to pay to keep them safe I’ll do it a million times. Imagine the hate crimes they would face if they were well known. It makes me sick. They have to be safe so that they can stop the world from ending if I go. Slayer is a lot less scary than slayers. I don’t know if they’ll give up, but if the girls leave and just act normal there’s no way they can be found. It’s not like slayers have some sort of distinguishing mark tattooed on their faces. They don’t even know who the others are. The only one they’re sure of is me.

[pm] Hey Buff. I saw the newspaper. How are you doing?
[pm] Not great. But I have this plan. Don’t freak okay. I’m gonna register. So the others don’t have to. There’s no way to prove they’ve got any powers at all. If we have to we can just pretend we took them back, we are the ones that gave them after all. I can’t let the others be registered like some sort of weapons. They’re people.
