[pm] Let me do it. I don’t actually have powers right now, but I’m still a Slayer. Let me do it, so that all those who do still have their powers can still fight, still protect the world. We can come up with a lie, or, or something. Tell them a new Slayer was chosen, tell them it’s not you anymore. They don’t know how it works. Don’t know how Slayers are chosen. Let me do it.

Spike: I’d even quit cavorting with the starry-eyed if it’d keep you clear.

[pm] And what the hell’s the game? Sounds more like giving up.

[pm] The game is that we let them think they’ve beat us. The people live in ignorance thinking that they’ve somehow restored public safety and you and the other slayers get to actually restore public safety. It’s not giving up, it’s just playing a different way than we’re used to.
