Note: We at IEG just re-opened the role of Tara. We’ve been around for a while now, but we’re a friendly, cohesive group and we’re excited to help our new Tara get caught up on what’s happened already. If you’re interested, please apply! Don’t let the things that have already happened deter you. The role is obviously very important to us, and we’re waiting for you with bated breath.
“Good girls should be seen and not heard.”
That was undoubtedly one of her dad’s most frequently uttered statements; she’d heard it a lot growing up— especially after her mom died.
Now Tara was neither seen nor heard.
She’d found herself on a crowded Cleveland street, unable to feel the lake breeze on her skin. Asking for directions had been fruitless; people shuffled rudely by her, and when she worked up the will to tap someone on the shoulder, her hand sunk right through.
Things slowly started to come back. She’d learned it had been two years since she’d gone away— still couldn’t think of it as what it actually was— and now she was back. Kind of. She had in her head that there was something she was supposed to be alerting Willow and the others about— something important. But the details escaped her, and even if she could remember, it wasn’t like she could tell them anyways.
Time helped, though. Made things easier. Tara learned that she could still manipulate objects: write, hold things, throw things. She began to speak with a boy who was attuned with the magicks named Cassius. And if she could talk to Cassius, why not Willow? But after a long while, Tara started being able to be seen and heard by others, not just Cassius. As things with Alarius grew into apocalyptic scale, all she could do was sit back and watch— until the time jump backwards.
Tara didn’t keep any of her memories from the first future. Didn’t know she was destined to die in two years, then come back to life in another two. Even after Willow explained to her what was going on (for Willow had kept her memories), Tara was still unaware of her doomed future. While in the past, however, she had a minor run in with none other than Kennedy. It was awkward and small, but it would prove to be one of the best things to happen to Tara since becoming a ghost.
Once the apocalypse was averted and everyone was sent back to their regular time with their regular memories, Tara was still a ghost. And she was still alone. Until Kennedy extended an offer and said that Tara could come live with her in her big, two bed-room apartment. Tara quickly accepted, happy someone was being so kind to her.
After moving in, Tara and Kennedy developed a friendship of sorts. One that would prove lasting. As Tara continued to live life as a ghost, she was unaware of Kennedy seeking out a way to turn her and Cordelia Chase corporeal by making a wish to a jinni. But by a misfortune, Kennedy turned Tara corporeal while also making her deaf to those she was closest to—Willow, Dawn, and Kennedy herself. Tara was upset and confused, and maybe a little hurt, but she understood the good intentions and harbored no resentment for Kennedy. In the end, Kennedy managed to find a way to reverse the effects of the spell gone wrong from the jinni, thanks to a little help from Anya.
Now alive and corporeal, Tara isn’t sure what her place in the world is anymore. She’s settled things with Willow and even went back to tell her family she was alive again. And through it all, there’s a small feeling building inside of her that she’s needed, that she was brought back for a reason. And she intends to find that out, all while dealing with being alive after two years of being dead— and possibly new feelings for her supposed roommate.
